Mujib Borsho, The birth centenary of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the father of the nation of Bangladesh, was celebrated with due dignity from march 17,2020 to may 31,2022 through various national and global programs. The ruling government of Bangladesh declared Mujib year on the occasion of the birth centenary of the father of the nation.
Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was born on March 17, 1920, in the Gopalganj subdivision. Bangabandhu’s father’s name is Sheikh Lutfur Rahman and his mother’s name is Saira Khatun. He led the people of Bangladesh in the liberation war against Pakistan in 1971. As a result, Bangladesh emerged as an independent country on the world map in 1971. Bangladesh Awami League decided to celebrate Mujib year in his memory. UNESCO has also decided to celebrate Mujib year together with Bangladesh.
United Nations Education, In the 40th general session of the scientific and cultural organization UNESCO, the final decision was taken to celebrate the Mujib Year jointly with Bangladesh. The unveiling of the Mujib Year logo and the official countdown begins on 10 January 2020, ‘Bangabandhu’s Homecoming Day. Sabyasachi Hazra designed the Mujibvarsha logo. Bangabandhu’s dream of Sonar Bangla has been realized through this project. As part of the Mujib year celebration, Sheikh Mujibur Rahman’s role in Bangladesh’s freedom struggle is celebrated at the grassroots level as well as his Homecoming Day, Awami League’s founding anniversary, National Mourning Day, and Jail Murder Day.
In addition, the Government of Bangladesh produced short films and documentaries on the occasion of the birth centenary and Mujib year celebrations. ‘National Insurance Day’ on March 1 on the occasion of Mujib Barsha declared as Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib started his first career outside of politics in Alfa Insurance Company. Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina inaugurated the ‘Shelter Scheme-2’ to distribute 66 thousand of houses to homeless and landless families. Bangabandhu was killed on August 15, 1975, and it has been one of the darkest events in the history of Bangladesh. We remember him and his ideologies by commemorating his 100th birth anniversary as the Mujib Borsho.
